So this is not realllllly book-related, but: Iffen any of you readers know of good job leads for a Gina, I’d be very much obliged.
Thanks for yr thinks. <3
Hello friends, fans, comrades, & co-conspirators,
I’m writing with some very big news: I’m leaving my job as Development Coordinator at St. James Infirmary as of March 10th, and I’m looking for work.
Working with St. James since 2010 has been an amazing experience. My position at St. James has been one of the best and most rewarding jobs I have ever had. I love everyone at the clinic, and I’m very sad to be leaving.
The funding climate for organizations led by and for current and former sex workers with a harm reduction approach is always a little shaky. We do life-saving work at St. James, day-in, day-out, and we do it on an extremely modest budget. 2013 and 2014 have been especially difficult funding years for the clinic. My job loss (and that of several of my co-workers) are the casualties of extremely difficult budget decisions that no one wanted to make.
Point being: If you’ve ever been moved to donate time, energy, and money (especially, especially money) to the clinic, now is a fabulous time to do so. I would be very gratified if my last act as Development Coordinator is to bring in a few more bucks for the clinic before I leave.
Please consider making a donation to St. James, in my name or otherwise. No amount is too small (or too large!).
Now, for the other part of this note: I’m looking for a day job in the Bay Area, and for gigs on the college and community center workshop, performance, and lecture circuit.
Broadly, I’m looking for positions in writing and editing (including development writing and development management), and teaching creative writing. I am open to part-time positions and part-time freelance contracts (either on-site or at home), but the more hours per week in a part-time contract or position, the better for me. Clips, work samples, a CV, and references are all available upon request.
I would especially love to land a full-time job in one of the areas listed above either 1) in San Francisco, 2) elsewhere in the Bay Area within reasonable public transit commuting distance of The Mission District, or 3) with the option of working from home/telecommuting. That said, if you see something awesome that screams “GINA!” at you outside of the Bay Area, please do send it along. I’m trying to keep all of my work options open right now.
For more specific and detailed information about what I do, take a peek below my signature line. Please feel free to forward this note around, too.
<3 & many thanks,
