College & university-affiliated folks (students, staff, & faculty): I’m looking to book solo performance and writing workshop gigs in the 2013-2014 academic year, and I am also looking to book performances/workshops for Girl Talk. Please contact me [firstname.lastname@example.org] if you wanna bring me and/or Girl Talk out to your campus.
My website is under reconstruction right now, and I will update when it’s up again. In brief, since I can’t link to my “Booking” page quite yet:
I’ve been a working writer and a writing instructor for well over a decade. I’ve been published in roughly two dozen anthologies and periodicals, including That’s Revolting!, Coming & Crying, Why Are Faggots So Afraid of Faggots?, Take Me There, and columns in Curve, On Our Backs, and the San Francisco Bay Guardian.
I hold an MFA in Creative Writing and an MA in English from San Francisco State University. I am especially skilled at teaching writing workshops about the body and sexuality, and I do a lot of work with queer, trans and genderqueer and gender-variant, sex worker, and pervert/kink communities. (That said, I have been told you don’t need to fit into any of those aforementioned categories to get something out of my writing or teaching.) As of late, the real focus of my writing, performance, and teaching work has been around sexuality, embodiment, and chronic illness.
When it comes to solo gigs, I am especially interested in doing performances & workshops related to How To Have A Body (my manuscript in progress). But I’ve got a wide body (heh) of writing and teaching experience to draw from, and I can tailor readings and writing workshops to your group.
If you’d like to bring me to your campus for a reading or a workshop, let’s talk. :)
